The written and filmed record

One book, four films and the posters of the practice, produced between 1994 and 2010. Everything is ordered from the school in Rome.

The book

Astanga Yoga — The Yoga of Breath

Cover of Astanga Yoga — The Yoga of Breath by Lino Miele, the eight-petal rosette in red on a yellow ground.

Around 360 pages and more than 200 photographs. The book covers the first through fourth series in the vinyasa context and explains how each posture is performed, with the questions and answers and the benefits of Yoga Chikitsa.

Lino wrote it under Guruji’s guidance, and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois asked for it to be published. The first edition came out in 1994 and covered the first and intermediate series. The edition in print is from 2010 and adds the third and fourth; the fourth series is performed by Annie Grover, in photographs taken in 1996.

It is available in Italian, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Russian and Korean.

Inside the book

Every posture is set beside its vinyasa count, with each movement marked as an inhale or an exhale.

Ask the school which of them are still in print.
