The Kovalam intensive
Two months of practice every year on the roof of the Peacock Hotel, in the tropical green of the coconut palms.
The practice
The intensive gives students the time to build a self-practice in which breath and movement are brought together systematically. Over the weeks the breathing steadies, the concentration holds longer, and body and mind both get stronger.
Breath draws in the energy, the bandhas contain it and direct it through the body, and the counting of the vinyasa keeps breath and movement in the same order. The workshop opens with led classes following Lino’s book, and students are taught the counting method to gain precision.
Who can come
The workshop is open to every level: primary, intermediate, advanced A and advanced B. Lino follows each student with adjustments and corrections through the practice.
Classes are held on a hard floor, so a rubber mat is essential. Mats are not provided.
